This list is designed to help the flow from the time you purchase your new home, until you take possession.
Lawyer/Notary
You will require the services of a Lawyer or Notary. Be sure you get complete delails of all fees, disbursements and taxes. Have your Realtor send the purchase agreement to him/her.
Arrange your Mortgage
with your bank or a mortgage broker, and have them send instructions to your lawyer/notary. To ensure the best rates, consider a mortgage broker, a list can be found on our professionals page.
Survey
A survye of the property is required. Check with your Realtor if one has been done, if not, instruct your lawyer/notary to order one.
Insurance
Arrange your insurance and give the agent the name and address of your mortgage company and your lawyer/notary.
Moving Van or Company
Book your move early.
Utilities
Arrange for hookup, cancellation or transfer of your utilities. Don't forget water and sewer. The numbers and addresses in the next column will be helpful.
Funds
If any funds need to be released from RRSP's or investments, make sure you arrange this well before they are needed
